Train-the-trainer program

Let us train your leaders to be CSTAG trainer/coaches.

Group who completed CSTAG train-the-coach training waving their red flags.

our trainers are coaches!

We can prepare leaders from your school or district to serve as CSTAG trainers. But we want them to go beyond training to be coaches. CSTAG coaches not only deliver the workshop to your teams, they will continue to work with them as coaches, consulting on cases and helping them to implement your threat assessment program with high fidelity. They can conduct annual evaluations to measure the safety, effectiveness, and fairness and equity of student outcomes in your school. They can conduct additional training as needed to improve team functioning.

who Can be a coach?

Each district should select its most capable leaders to become CSTAG coaches. Coaches can be drawn from administrators, counselors, law enforcement officers, psychologists, social workers, teachers, and others. Successful coaches will have the capability to deliver the CSTAG workshop in a dynamic, engaging manner. They will consult on cases, and supervise or support the implementation of the CSTAG program.

How are Coaches trained?

Coaches complete a 2.5 day program to be certified to lead the full-day CSTAG workshop. On Day 1, they attend the most recent version of the CSTAG workshop conducted by one of our lead trainers. On Day 2 they go into depth on the purpose, logistics, and techniques of delivering the workshop. They review the PowerPoint training materials, manual, and other resources they will have as trainers. They learn about their role as coaches. Day 3 is a half-day in which trainers complete a written test, make a brief oral presentation, and discuss implementation and evaluation procedures for their teams. All coaches receive annual updated training materials at no charge and must complete a refresher program (online) at no charge every 4 years.

Want more information?

You can host your own Train-The-Coach program or you can send your trainers to another site. Programs are generally 20-30 trainers. If you have 10 or more trainers, you may want to host your own program and allow trainers from other districts to attend, so that the group is at least 20 trainers. We currently have possible coach training opportunities here:

There is a briefer TTT program for coaches in schools using the Navigate360 online program. These coaches deliver the Level 2 (half-day) workshop rather than the full-day workshop. Contact us for more information on Level 2 Trainers.
